Our Mission:
“Hand & Heart is a Non-Profit Organization dedicated to mobilizing resources and support for individuals and communities that are unable to fully prosper due to illness, disability, inequality, injustice and the violation of their human rights. More specifically, we strive to empower these communities by enabling African Entrepreneurs to launch, grow and leverage their own ventures to create jobs and services in their communities. Proactive change from the bottom up is our approach! Proactive in that both our research and action plan has to originate and be driven by the people closest to the problems. We realize however, that the infrastructure needed to support change-makers is very weak and almost non-existent in certain parts of the world. H&H wishes to strengthen this global infrastructure for change-making. We want to address the correlation that exists between poverty and dependency by enabling individuals and communities to stand on their own feet and take charge of their own well-being. Our hope is that all individuals, regardless of their geographic location, socio-economic class and background, can someday be equality free to dream and pursue that which they wish to be in life. And lastly, to always, throughout our existence and mission, stay in touch with our underlying vision of compassionately empowering hands, and in the process touching hearts.
Our Strategy:
Hand & Heart’s strives to empower poor and underprivileged communities around the world by putting structures in place that enable the community’s members to empower themselves. Traveling community volunteers, along with the native community members, will be the catalysts of change in the communities Hand & Heart strives to improve. The team will come together from their distant lands to transform the community together! In the process, they will empower each other’s hands, and touch each other’s hearts. Hand & Heart believes that linking people, and allowing them to exchange resources, love, ideas, knowledge, and culture, is the only sustainable means towards creating lasting improvement, compassion, and understanding in our world.
Our Commitment:
Hand & Heart’s commitment to the communities they serve, is to make the members in the community not only part of the fundraising and transformation process but the driving force of it. This will create changes that are supported by members of the community, and consequently will be maintained and sustained by these members as they will have a vested interest in the success of it. The native members of the community will be the driving force supported by our volunteers and organization!
